- Lawrence Austin
- d. 1997. Manager/reviver of the Silent Movie theater in Los Angeles,
CA.
- Richard Blumenberg
- 1935-1997. Professor at Southern Illinois University and author
of Critical Focus. A memorial fund has been established.
- Richard deCordova
- 1956-1996. Professor at DePaul University and historian of the
evolution of the star system.
- Donie Durieu
- d. 1996. Wife of former SCS president and Cinema Journal
editor, Dana Polan. A fund has been established in her honor.
- William K. Everson
- 1929-1996. Noted film archivist and NYU professor.
- Lewis Jacobs
- 1902-1997. Author of The Rise of the American Film, one
of the first substantive histories of the cinema.
- Nina Leibman
- 1957-1996. Author of Living Room Lectures and professor
at Santa Clara University.
- Cal Pryluck
- 1924-1996. Longtime supporter of UFVA and professor at Temple
University and UNC-Chapel Hill.
